Visited Werribee last week and noted a change.

    - The Australian animals zone has been redveloped. It is now accessed across from the vervet monkeys. A pair of new koala exhibits is next to the entrance with one koala in each. The path then goes through the orange bellied parrot aviaries and loops back around past the shearing shed to the entrance. The entire space is also now a walkthrough kangaroo and emu exhibit. I was with a group tour and as such was not able to see if bandicoot hideout was still accessible though it appeared from a distance it was.

I visited Werribee open range zoo on the weekend and have noted a couple of changes:

    - The males (Zuberi and Ndidi) that are meant to be sent to Melbourne zoo were either off display preparing for the move or already been sent to Melbourne zoo.

    - The African wild dogs were off display in preparation for a new wild dog pack arriving in a matter of days. Where they’re coming from is unknown.

-The bison and addax were off display in the safari.

    - A baby scimatar horned oryx was born a couple of days ago.

    - The new 10 female ostrich were on display in the waterhole exhibit whilst the five males joined the zoos two previous males in the African savannah.

    - Umgana the African rhino was paired with Sisi the zoos female rhino (mother of Kipenzi) alone in the African savannah in the hopes for the pair to breed.

    - The eldest Nyala calf was on-display in the waterhole exhibit alongside the his mother and father.

    - The blackbuck herd now numbers about 40! With many recent births.

I will upload photos from my visit soon.

‘Thembi’, one of WORZ’s male giraffe has died due to a walkway incident, which likely caused sudden heart failure. Apparently he was the dominant giraffe of their group.
    A tragic accident.:(

    Very sad. :(

He was a great individual. He was indeed the dominant male. His half brother Amani will likely take over the dominant roll. Thembi and Amani arrived from Taronga western plains zoo in 2009.
