In 9 Japanese aquariums, whale sharks have been kept in the past. According to my documents (I am interested in zoos and aquariums for more than 60 years), whale sharks have lived or live in the following Japanese aquariums:

    Numazu, Izu-Mito Sea Paradise (1934)
    Motobu, Churaumi Aquarium (since 1981)
    Osaka, Kaiyukan Aquarium (since1992)
    Oita, Marine Palace (1995)
    Kagoshima Aquarium (since 2000)
Notojima Aquarium (Dez. 2000 for a short time & from 2012)
Yokohama, Hakkeijima Sea Paradise (since 2010)
Numazu, Awashima Marine Park (2012 for a short time)
    Shimoda, Floating Aquarium (2014)

If anyone has any further information, please let me know. Many thanks
