There's only five species around in all of Europe. And sadly none of them are particularly close to where I live (the closest one at Best Zoo being bts of course...). Last year was also not the best year for zoo visits with all the full closures or closed houses due to the 'rona. Maybe this will be the year though. :fingerscrossed:

Wow, so many opossums you’ve seen! I wish I could see some living yapok, though they were a captivity thing in Dallas’s Aquarium where I lived near there. But I heard there are a few different opossum species (Which I have never seen) in some exotic pet shop here, hopefully, I will make it to see Derby’s woolly opossum and gray short-tailed opossum this year!

Actually a private collection in Java.

The Bear Cuscus I saw at Batu Zoo was Mountain Bear Cuscus (Ailurops furvus), which is often recognized of late including on Mammalwatching.com's master list

Swamp Wallaby Wallabia bicolor - Exmoor Zoo 2019
Western Grey Kangaroo Macropus fuliginosus - Edinburgh Zoo 2021

For a total of 17 species. Embarrassingly, the Sugar Glider and Ground Cuscus are the only possums, although hopefully an upcoming visit to Hamerton will rectify this. It is also worth noting that I only include species that I can say with absolute certainty that I have seen, which means, even though there is a strong chance that I saw them in my earlier visits to Bristol, I have excluded the Eastern Quoll. I don't want to add such a lovely species to my life list because of a vague childhood memory of seeing one. I not only missed the species at Bristol, but at Menagerie Jardins des Plantes as well, unaware that the collection held them, and, seeing their building labelled on the map with callitrichids, and with the zoo's closing time approaching, I decided to skip them, making the Eastern Quoll one of my most painful and long-overdue lifeticks.
