Not something I thought I'd read today but: Woman banned from zoo for unhealthy relationship with chimp shunned by troop Thoughts?
Well... the article is not quite right, as she has not been banned from the Antwerp Zoo. She will only be banned if she makes another contact with the chimp named Chita, which is a former pet and has always had a hard time adjusting to the chimps. Because he seeks contact with people, he has already been injured several times because the other chimpanzees do not tolerate it. The Antwerp Zoo wrote to this woman and some other people who sought contact with the chimp and this woman went to the media with it. So I personally think she is doing it for people's attention because there are always many people standing around her when she is doing these weird practices like kissing at the window. However, the woman refuses to stop these practices so this slightly wrong news will soon be right news
why did I instantly think of Antwerp zoo when I saw the title? I've only been once and did think there was a peculiar reaction from one chimp towards a particular visitor. Has this chimp been discussed before on the forum? Coincidentally, the lady I photographed on my visit had ginger hair and a red coat too, as in the article!
Reminds me of the lady who had an infatuation with the male gorilla Bokito at Rotterdam. That didn't end well....
This soap is sadly not over yet. Now that the security at the chimpanzee enclosure is reduced, the woman completely ignores the restraining order and continues to do the same as before. There are articles about this, but they are in Dutch. Some people never fully mature either.
@Tiger Metropolitan zoos in particular seem to attract this kind of peculiar individuals. In the end, the zoo will probably ban her from its premises for good. She already had her 15 minutes of yellow press fame, so *shruggs*
I tend to agree. If she can't follow a simple request and drop this one behaviour, they shouldn't allow her entry.
