They must be doing something right because the last accounts they posted showed they made a very healthy profit.

It is indeed. Apparently Saturday was the first day they were allowed in and we saw Pixel enjoying a swim on Sunday when we visited. He certainly seemed happy and chilled and was rather taken with the reeds along the edge - no doubt something he can demolish like the trees in the first enclosure.....haha

Enclosure 3 in Project Polar finally open. Opened 16 Sep 17. Seems to be open to Victor and Pixel although it seems to be only Pixel that's trying it out at the moment....

Is there a possibility that Project Polar will be used for breeding Polar bears in the future or will it remain as a holding facility for retired males/young males?

When I have spoke to keepers both possibilities are being left open, however the one I spoke to seemed really keen to stay as male only as it will allow them to hold a lot more bears at any one time.

How many made bears could they hold at one time? Has there been a successful breeding of Polar bears in the U.K. in recent memory?

Last Polar Bear breeding would have been Mercedes' 2nd cub at Edinburgh well over 20 years ago

"Mercedes" gave birth to two cubs at Edinburgh Zoo; the first in 1988, the second in 1991.

Initially; I'd expect that is likely to change upwards over the years, just not within the scope of this application.

I saw 2 Visayan Warty Pigs today; am guessing one male one female in separate sections. The smaller one, which I guess is female, was in the larger section and together they take up all of the Red River Hogs area; I was told by someone a few weeks ago that they'd gone, but I don't know where.

and there's a structure being built across the path from the Zebra House by the entrance to the Tiger walk bit

I just noticed this silly article from a few weeks back, which has been twisted into something else. The first time I went to YWP, I photographed the brothers 'playing' the same way.

Photo of two male lions 'mating' at wildlife park goes viral

I wouldn't mind betting all this will cost less than a zoo in Hampshire's new tropical house!
Would management there please wake up!!
Yorkshire Wildlife Park is a zoo on the up!!

This would be their £50 million expansion?

Picking a fight again? I'll bet this isn't all they add! I'll certainly bet they can add half those for less than £7.8m! Sealions & Penguins will cost more, but the first 5 easily!
They don't bother with flash visitor focused enclosures like Marwell or London!!
