These are fascinating birds indeed, never seen one in the flesh yet but would like to.

What is it that is so cool about this species to you ?

One thing that I find fascinating about them is that they have the loudest call of any bird ever documented. I listened to a few clips of it on YouTube, and it sounds really weird, but awesome. I recommend you listen to it, but make sure your volume is pretty low, or your ears will be blasted by the super loud sound like it happened to me a couple times :p

Yes, that ability of these birds is really incredible !

I would really love to see this bird in the wild, it is actually seen here sometimes in São Paulo city but despite that incredibly loud call it is such a secretive and cryptic bird so it is very hard to see.

Unrelated but you mention Sao Paulo- does the city zoo still keep Spix Macaw, or have they been relocated to the reintroduction scheme now?

Orchid Mantis. They're so clever in the way they camouflage it stuns me.

And have you seen the research that some insects are more attracted to the mantis than similar flowers?
