You might belong or be on zoochat if You realize on a trip to East Africa that it is the first time in Your life where You are on the same continent with a living Jentink's duiker. Later You think about the fact that on Your visit to Bioparc Valencia it was the closest encounter with a living Jentink's duiker, with only about 4000 km in between!!!

You might belong or be on Zoochat if you volunteer at your local zoo, and your fellow volunteers are arguing about whether the wild birds that you have to chase away from prams at the bird and seal shows are called bush turkeys or brush turkeys and you ask if you are the only one who calls them Alectura lathami.

Down in Melbourne we always called them ‘Brush’ turkeys. :D The signage in their former enclosure in Growing Wild even had that down!

Yes, I use "brush" as well, rather than "bush", which I have found to be more common in Sydney.

Ive also heard people refer to them as ‘Bush’; although I assume it’s just confusion due to the close pronunciation.

I assume those Wild Brush Turkeys within Taronga?

Those guys were everywhere when I visited last year. Even roaming through the car park; at one point causing a traffic jam!

Most are wild, but some do belong to the zoo.

You might belong on Zoochat if:

    1) You find pleasure in seeing rare species at the given collection

    2) You religiously note down every single species you see at a collection

    3) You make lists of the animals you haven’t seen at a collection and go round with a clipboard and pen, ticking off accordingly, and too often get mistaken for a member of staff

    4) You keep plastic wallets, ordered alphabetically, of each collection you have visited with the map, species seen and special photos of species from the collection

    5) You become distressed if you cannot find the target species you have come to see at the collection

You may belong in Zoochat if

1)Your friends rated this aquarium a 1/5, but you rated it a 4/5 because of that one Australian Ghostshark...

2)When you glare at the person next to you at the Binturong exhibit because they called it a "baby bear"

3)The people around you don't know what you are talking about half of the time when the topic is wildlife or rare collections

4)You get angry at a zoo because they didn't name the subspecies of a certain animal on the signage

5)You travel halfway across the world to see one species

6)You give an hour-long lecture just because your friend said "What's the difference between leopards and jaguars?"

7)You are known as a "Walking Encyclopedia" in your friend group

Your friend sees an average grey bird, while you see the last Great Salty Woodpecker in captivity.

I'm guessing you mean Great Slaty Woodpecker, rather than Salty?:p
