The Star wars list didn't entirely count, so excluding star wars here are some of my favorites in no particular order.

    All the Harry potter movies.
-Of course, the Books are better, (Read each one numerous times, and have them on audio now and then,) but I really enjoy the movies as well, Hogwarts is quite literally my dream home. I would imagine plenty of Forbidden forest to go animal watching eh?
    Trains, Plains, and Automobiles.
-Found this movie very hilarious and entertaining, and Is quite an enjoyable experience to watch now and then.
    Sleepless in Seattle.
-Tom hanks is probably my favorite actor of all time, but this performance was truly beautiful.
    Field of Dreams.
-I adore the Soundtrack for this Movie, and has some great storytelling at play, James earl jones is a legend, and even though I am not much of a baseball fan, the movie I feel doesn't really focus on baseball as the main moral.
    It's a wonderful life
-An absolute classic, and as a lover of Black-and-white cinema, (and late 19th century and early 20th century silent films being my preference, but-whatever,) I simply adore this film for its artistry and valuable lessons.
    The Incredibles 1&2
-My favorite set of Pixar Movies, and has some very Simpsons-Esque comedy mixed in for thrilling animation and voice acting.
    Soul
-While not as good as the Incredibles franchise, this movie that only just came out was a really hyped-up film for me, has some beautiful moments, and mostly succeeded my expectations.
    (MOSTLY)

    Father of the Bride 1&2

-I really like Steve martin, and this Movie Is full of him, along with some brilliant preformances and sharp comedy.

    Fantasia & Fantasia 2000
-An absolutely Magical art style through absolutely timeless animation, (and it's from freakin' 1940) these set of Movies are simply the Background noise of my childhood, classical orchestral music is easily my favorite genera of music, and showing that Animation can simply be told without dialogue and instead the pure, Rich, orchestral score is something amazing and should be used more often in short and feature-length films.

And one for the Holiday season, Christmas vacation.
Although probably the most generic out of the bunch, it has some Laugh-out-loud comedy that really helps through the midst of a pandemic.

    Honorable mentions:
Rogue one- Not really a part of the Main skywalker Saga, this movie really defines the word, "War" in star wars, and has a brilliant lead and some wonderful side characters. And of course, Darth Vader.
    (Who's excited for Andor?

And for one 2 minute film that probably wouldn't make anyone's list in anything, The Astronomers dream.
As I said before, Silent films are quite interesting, because I can imagine what they are thinking without music to back it up, unlike fantasia. An its a lot more relatable since we don't have Musical scores following us humans everywhere we walk. But this film is very old, (1898) and has some brilliant puppetry and something about this film makes me have a relaxed sensation in my heart.

Here's a video of it, (the music is edited in by the uploader) so in my experience I just turn the volume off.

    Anyway, I need a sandwich.

Interesting side note about Rogue One - My daughter's mother went to school with Felicity Jones, and was friends with either her sister or her cousin.

Not much point to this post, just thought I'd share with the class! :p

    Here is my list:

    Godzilla: King of the Monsters
    [IMG]

This movie is basically tailor-made for Godzilla fans. Is it an objectively good movie? Maybe not. But I love it to pieces because it's got everything I wanted out of a Godzilla movie. Cool monster scenes, great monster fights, human characters I actually like, fantastic visual effects, and the correct characterization of the monsters.

NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind
    [IMG]
I was a bit skeptical of this movie at first, but I have come to love it more than almost any other movie. Every part of this movie is pure perfection, from the animation to the characters to the voice acting. It's the best animated movie by far and really stands head and shoulders above other Studio Ghibli movies, which I all love but this is just something that could touch the stars.

    Kong: Skull Island
    [IMG]

If the word "Fun" were a movie, I would say Kong: Skull Island is that movie. It's amazingly executed on every level, from the direction to the acting (especially of Samuel L. Jackson, the soldiers, John Goodman, and the guys who played Kong). This is the King Kong movie where he finally breaks away from that tired old story from the 1933 film. It's action-packed, quippy (in a good way) and filled with memorable moments. A 5/5 kaiju movie.

    Godzilla (2014)

This is much different from any other Godzilla movie out there. It actually follows Godzilla as he makes his way to doing stuff! Amazing. This is the second attempt America has had at Godzilla and they absolutely wrecked it (in a good way). This is a faithful adaptation of one of the most famous movie monsters of all time, is basically what I'm trying to say.

    My Neighbor Totoro
    [IMG]

This is probably Studio Ghibli's most famous movie, and their second-best. It can be described with one word: Whimsical. That's it. That's the movie. The world of this movie is magical and heartfelt and just so uplifting that watching it makes you feel like you just got a big hug and maybe the world isn't so terrible after all.

    Pokemon: The First Movie
    [IMG]

Out of all the movies on this list, this is probably the one that's thought of as the worst. I think personally it's the best of the Pokemon movies, granted I haven't seen very many of them (there's a lot, ok) but it's still really good. The problem with this movie is that you need to be a fan to fully appreciate it, so mission accomplished for me I guess.

    Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
    [IMG]

This is the last kaiju movie, I swear.
This is the finest Godzilla movie Japan has ever produced. While I do love the atmosphere surrounding the other Godzilla movies produced during this time period, this one has the strongest story. It's ripping off Back to the Future, sure, but it at least does it well. This one is a bit more hardcore Godzilla material though, so I advise against viewing it first.

    Die Hard
    [IMG]

My father was the one who first introduced me to this movie, on a December night in... I can't remember when but it was a while ago. Anyway, I fell in love with this movie from start to finish. It's excellent popcorn entertainment, but also a really good movie in general, with great pacing, action, performances, and cinematography.

    The Death of Stalin
    [IMG]

The problem with most comedy movies nowaday is that... they're just bad. Not with The Death of Stalin though, this is hilarious from start to finish, especially if you're a history buff. Some of the stuff in this movie actually happened, not exactly as depicted, but it did happen. If you're a fan of nonstop jokes punching you in the gut until you can't breathe, this is the movie for you.

    Jurassic World
    [IMG]

This movie probably has the most nostalgia value to me, as I was in elementary school when it came out. Really wanted to see it in theaters, but I didn't. Anyway, this is perhaps the best dinosaur movie ever made, with great action, visual effects, a good screenplay, and fine performances across the board. It can get a little silly at times, but the ending of the movie alone is worth the price of admission.

Sorry for the long post, I am just very enthusiastic about this.

The first movie is decent, but Pokemon 2000 and Lucario and the Mystery of Mew are the best Pokemon Anime movies, IMO. Detective Pikachu is the best Pokemon movie.

Saw the 1960's world war two film "The Hill" with Connery recently and was really impressed.

I don't know if it would be one of the greatest films of all time but it was certainly a good one with a lot of social criticism.

I've been thinking about this a little bit and love some of our younger Zoochatters choices too, just like a young me. Monsters = best film. There is nothing wrong with that choice, its you and super cool.

Mine, in no order bar what they are written in:

    12 Angry Men
    The Shawshank Redemption
    A Muppets Christmas Carol
    Django Unchained
    Goodfellas
    Kill Bill v.2
    Apocalypse Now
Once Upon a Time in The West
    Pulp Fiction
    Casino

I'd love to see a film to replace one if those. The Muppets one can't be replaced ever.

My VPN connection to work is broken for the second day running, so whilst I wait for IT to try and fix it, I've been thinking about my top 10.

I have never been a big film watcher, but during lockdown I really got into Silent film, which I *love*. In no particular order:

    1. TRON (1982)
    2. Safety Last! (1923)

    3. The Fox Farm (1922) Watch The Fox Farm - BFI Player
    4. Bill (2015)
    5. Hidden Figures (2016)
    6. Sherlock Jr. (1924)

    7. Florence Foster Jenkins (2016)
    8. 1917 (2019)
    9. Singin' in the Rain (1952)
    10. The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! (2012)

    Special Mention 1 - The General (1926)
I've not seen it yet, but the DVD is waiting patiently for me and will probably go right into the Top 10 when I do watch it. Not only is it meant to be Buster Keaton's greatest film, it's often described as one of the greatest silent films ever made.

    Special mention 2 - Documentaries
They Shall Not Grow Old (2018)
    Grass: A Nation's Battle for Life (1925)
    The Eagle Huntress (2016)
    Last Breath (2019)
    Racing Extinction (2015)

I have an extra soft-spot for it because once I'd worked at the Royal Society I realised they used real historical Royal Society Fellows for the Royal Society scene (although I'm sure none of them used hot air balloons to look down ladies dresses!)

Hello. I didn't watch them. The Christmas one is on my top 10 as we watch it every Christmas Eve with Christmas snacks and drinks, so it has to be in my top 10 for that reason alone. I also think its quite funny and Micheal Caine is always good.

I watched the movie in theaters back in 2012 but don't remember it all. So it's worth another watch?

I didn't even know it had a theatrical release. But, yes. Although it's very English so I'm not sure Americans would get it in the same way.

Huh, funny edit: I just had a look at the cast and some of the voice-actors were recast for the American version!

I did a review of it in the 2015 movie rant thread:

    The Pirates! Band of Misfits

Every single Zoochatter should watch this animated movie (that is, not every Zoochatter who is single, but every single Zoochatter, if you see what I mean. Although one of the characters is played by Salma Hayek and there is another one who is - cover your eyes CGSwans - a mermaid, so it wouldn't hurt if you were single I suppose. There's a chimp too, if for some reason you don't like either of those previous two).

Anyway, animated pirate movies might not normally be required viewing for Zoochatters but this one involves not only pirates but also a veritable treasure chest of zoological jokes. One of the main characters is none other than that conniving scoundrel Charles Darwin (voiced by David Tennant!!!). I watched the movie on tv unfortunately, so get it on DVD because I was forever wanting to pause or rewind to pick up gags I missed or to see what that interesting thing in the background was. Keep an eye out for the Great Auk, for example.

It also goes under the title "The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists!"

To paraphrase Automan, on a scale of one to ten think of this one as an eleven.

    Blasphemy!

I second getting the DVD (English!) version. When it was broadcast on the BBC some of the "riskier" jokes were cut out.
