In the last couple of days more animals returned to the zoo from Biotropica and CERZA Parc des Safaris: Suyang (female Sumatran Tiger), Nimala (Sri Lankan leopard), Maya and Séraphin (South American tapirs) and their group of Humboldt penguins.

From Espace Zoologique - St Martin la Plaine two female jaguars returned, named Angha and Jagara. Not sure about this, but from EcoZonia a honey badger named Buck returned.

Also the ring-tailed lemurs have returned at the zoo, they came from Zoo de Maubeuge.

The Red-bellied tamarins (Saguinus labiatus) while they were living in Zoo Beauval gave birth to 2 young.

The zoo is building a gorilla exhibit (new species). Don't know if it will be ready for next year but rhe gorilla house is already taking shape.

I imagine it will be a group of males. Several other primates could be presented in this new area such as the large group of hamadryas baboon present behind the scenes for many years. I would like to see mandrills or drills there.

A female greater one horned rhino called Zhiwa arrived from Whipsnade Zoo. She will be paired with Jari, the resident male.

Previously there were three males in the zoo so I suppose two have left.

Birth of 1.0 Giraffe on 1st April 2023.
The newborn has been called SAMAKI, that means... fish in Swahili (there's a tradition to make jokes called "poissons d'avril" = "April fishes" on 1st April in France).
Zoo Bassin d'Arcachon Officiel on Instagram: "La famille s’agrandit ! Raha la maman de Ringo a donné naissance pour la deuxième fois à un petit girafon le 1re avril . Ses soigneurs l’ont prénommé Samaki, ce qui signifie « poisson » en swahili. Cette naissance est la 4ème au sein de notre groupe."

Does anyone have any information about the chimpanzees in the zoo ? Is there a bonobo/chimpanzee hybrid ? I know it's a couple made up of Adam and Zora, they had a baby in 2010, a male named Mooky but I don't know where this individual went.

Pairi daiza recently sent two black mangabeys towards the Zoo du Bassin d'Arcachon. It is Mandarine and Litchee, a mother and her daughter (born July 3, 2021 in Pairi Daiza).
