A first part of the zoo master plan opened the 1st february. Called "Archipels" this new area house sumatran tigers, visayan warty pigs together with Prince Alfred deers, red pandas with small-clawed otters and an aviary for red crowned cranes, glossy ibisses and satyr tragopans. A reptile house will open next week.
Other new exhibit in the park is an humboltd penguins pool. The sealion pool was refurbished in the same time.

You can see some pics of the new exhibits here : Leszoosdanslemonde • Afficher le sujet - Vers un nouveau zoo à Amiens à l’horizon 2019

Next step will be the african savanna and the african house if the next city council (elections in march) give the money needed.

Wow, look beautiful. Love the combination of the natural and human form. Really cool (landscape) architecture and not too much theming. The design looks similar to the wonderful renovation done by Bernard Tschumi Architects at the Paris zoo. Are they also working here on the renovations in Amiens?

The architect here is Jacqueline Osty. You can find other informations on the project here le zoo grande envergure - Amiens Métropole

It's the same looking as Vincennes. Christine Morrier who lead the project in Amiens (she was the director untile last january) was previously the last director of the past Vincennes.

Indeed... Brown-cheeked hornbill and White-headed lapwing being two other heavy-hitters, and a bunch of other very good birds as well.
Does anyone know if confirmation of these has been posted on other forums/sources?
