Didactylus is a much better exhibit animal than hoffmanni anyways, seeing that the former tends to be diurnal and the latter tends to be nocturnal, and morphologically being indistinguishable to the untrained eye (or when asleep and all you see is fur, lol). Judging by the morphological similarity and behavioral differences, I much prefer seeing zoos display didactylus as these are more likely to be active when zoos are open, making a more interesting display for visitors. Of course, being sloths, both species are still likely to sleep sometimes during the day, but the behavioral differences are significant enough that I think it's clear which one makes better exhibit animals.

Skansen has one young and one old male Hoffmann's. The young animal was very active yesterday and the keeper said that he usually is.

Can vouch for this. The sloths at my local zoo do sleep a lot, but when they're active... they can definitely get quite the wiggle on.

Wouldn't mind seeing other sloths besides Linne's Two-Toed, but I get it - I understand keeping any Three-Toed species in captivity is almost impossible due to their very particular diet (I recall reading that somewhere).

    66. Common Hippo (Hippopotamus amphibius)
    67. Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx)- I assume Canadian Lynx and Eurasian Lynx can be counted separately?
    68. Wolverine (Gulo gulo)
    69. African Hunting Dog (Lycaon pictus)- I would say it is pretty impressive I have managed to see two Hyena species before I've seen African Hunting Dogs this year!

A trip to Shepreth Wildlife Park before the end of the year would be ideal (but not necessary likely) as it would see me visit my first nocturnal house of the year (amazingly) and close in on the 75 mark, but probably not reach it. If I don't manage to get to Shepreth, I think I will still be pretty content and proud of the list (predators especially) I have gathered, despite not really seeing a conventional nocturnal house for the whole challenge.

Their collection is constantly rotating, so the Olingo (If that is what it truly is) must not have been out when I visited :(. They also claim to have Sunda and Palawan Porcupines!

    258) Bauer's Chameleon Gecko (Eurydactylodes agricolae)

    Pairi Daiza - September 13th 2022

    259) Bear Cuscus (Ailurops ursinus)
    260) Lyle's Flying Fox (Pteropus lylei)
    261) Grey Mouse Lemur (Microcebus murinus)
    262) Large Hairy Armadillo (Chaetophractus villosus)
    263) Canadian Beaver (Castor canadensis)
    264) Lesser Mouse Deer (Tragulus kanchil)

There's a decent chance I have forgotten some geckos :p but I was never going to win anyway so there is little point trying to work out which ones!

This was like Mbappe's a goal from the spot in the 118th minute! :p:p:p Good that my goalkeeper is in a good shape :)

Probably requires VAR too as doesn't conform to rule 7 but at least it doesn't stop you winning my friend. Congratulations @twilighter ( I will take a small amount of credit for most of your UK additions either going there with you or showing you where to go - British Wildlife Centre)
Posting 6 months worth of visits on 31/12 is breaking the rules, I really don't care whether I am 2nd 3rd or 10th I'm not bothering next year as it's too complicated I will just help @twilighter win again with his UK zoo visits

Thank you my friend! You deserve credit for at least 100 of my additions and for one of the most exciting zoo experiences I ever have ! Your help was invaluable and I am very grateful, as you know.

You say you "really don't care" how you did, and yet funnily enough you didn't complain when @Marhi uploaded all of his sightings from March onwards over the course of the past 10 days ;) nor @migdog with their sightings from July onwards earlier this week.... you even "liked" their posts! As far as I can tell, the only difference is that they didn't overtake you - which implies you care a great deal.

In any case, as I said over in the "how many zoos did you visit in 2022" thread, I've not been in great health since my 22 day long trip - so I've been prioritising my guidebook thread when physical and mental energy has allowed.

Only difference is you posted on 31/12 ! I bear you no personal grudge but had you won it would have been ridiculous and breaking rule 7 so should not have counted! You have had plenty of time to post all those or at least some of them surely? I even voted for your thread FFS. I just think posting 6 months worth on the last day is bordering on cheating but doesn't really matter as you lost too!

Marhi posted on 31/12 too, albeit Czech time!

Having time doesn't mean much when you've been spending most of your time since mid-September either asleep or working, and in a constant state of brainfog, and therefore have to ration your mental energy :( been working on that update for a few days now, in bursts of energy and attention span. The only reason I've gone to the effort to upload the total now is *because* I knew I hadn't won, but having posted within the thread previously I didn't want to leave the year incomplete and inaccurate. Over on the UK challenge, I never got around to posting at all so I've held off on working out what my total would have been until after Jake uploaded the final rankings - which he has now done.

Doesn't make any difference really as I said we both LOST! Only difference was rule 7 which may as well not exist as it is never even considered
