    Tierpark would win probably!

I'm more inclined to say, Chester. The enclosures are better despite the smaller range in species

Spirit of the Jaguar would maul the Alfred Brehm House. The rest is just clean-up.

Indeed. Tierpark has that match up on ungulates and, perhaps slightly counter-intuitively, reptiles/fish/etc. Chester wins the rest.

That explains why almost all the Sun Bear exhibits in Europe are flooded.

You got me - that’s definitely the general location of where I can be found when I’m at my most excited!

    ?

The reptile house was still operational, if a touch disheveled, when I was there in August. Has it closed down since?

It has been closed completely, only the crocodile hall and the small aquarium in the restaurant remain for ectotherms...

It was closed down forever on September 29th, 2017. For all the reasons that have been known to anybody ever heard of and/or worked in the house: run down pipes, broken roof and the like. Regardless the history this is now to 'expensive' to repair.

I think that absolutely anything could happen still, depending entirely on who ends up against each other and what the categories are.

Here is an overview of the last 32 with who will play who in the coming rounds:

It will be interesting to see and which category gets assigned to who will have a big impact. But I am looking forward to Beauval vs. Plzen in particular this round. I would say only Prague, Vienna, Chester and Wuppertal have an easy one this round. Next round could already be spectacular with Chester vs. Cologne (except when it is hoofstock and then it will probably be Ostrava)... I predict that the winner will come from the left hand side of the table. My guess for the final will be Chester vs. Zoo Berlin and I think Chester would win that. Though Chester (just as Prague) is lacking a good aquarium, so that could hurt them along the way.

I thought there was another three days of voting between Prague and Colchester? A bit premature to declare a result? ;)

Colchester is not a German football team, so it seemed save to put them there ;)

If Chester has to use it's aquarium for something I will use a trick up my sleeve. Conservation efforts :)

That won't be of any use against zoos like Cologne and Vienna though...
