Dublin came through the first round over Duisburg and Zagreb on primates. Now Stuttgart brings birds to the table.

Dublin's bird collection is similar to jerseys carnivores, almost none. When they built the new flamingo enclosure, it was rumoured that some other interesting bird species would be added, but just a couple of ducks continued the minimalism trend. So indeed Dublin will now leave the contest.

I’m tempted to vote for Dublin, though, out of revenge. Zootierliste promised me 24 new passerines for my passerine challenge when I made it to Stuttgart... and I got two. I was therefore profoundly and completely subjectively unimpressed by Stuttgart’s bird collection. :(

Well the only passerines in D zoo are taxidermy models in the new mini museum, or the native ones flying overhead. Abc species all the way 1 flamingo, 1 penguin, 1 ostrich, 1 cockatoo, 1 Macaw, 1 duck, 1 ibis and that's nearly it. In fairness all are housed quite well and some groups are large, flamingo 80 plus, ibis 20 plus and penguin 10 plus.

Do Stuttgart still have that ridiculously small outdoor glass box for orangutan? If so I will vote Dublin!

Not any longer luckily, Stuttgart's elderly 0:2 Sumatran Orang-utan moved into the zoo's ape house last year and now have a much larger (compared to their previous enclosure) indoor and outdoor enclosures.

I believe they are in part of that complex, in what was formerly the Gorilla nursery.
