I wonder if and by how far the new management had anything to do with this?! Anyway, a great development and much needed for maintaining this attractive smaller flamingo species in Europe (hope we are finally cracking the eggs ... with the recent hatchings here and there).

For sure, Dr.Reinschmidt isn't the father of the chicks:)

Seriously,I think,he has not very much do with it, because the Lesser Flamingos had eggs in the past regulary, but they were unfertilized.

    OK, did not know that.

Anything down to bird husbandry or management?
What sex/age ratio do they have?

Earlier this week a male Persian gazelle was placed n the enclosure of the 15 females. It's only during the autumn/winter period that a male is living with the females in Karlsruhe, the rest of the year the males are living at Tierpark Oberwald.
Karlsruhe Zoo is already since the 1960-ties succesfull in breeding this species :

The zoo has started building a new European lynx-enclosure. This will be 1100 squar meter which is 10-times larger as the current enclosure and it's expected to be finished by the end of 2017.
