Does anyone remember an ABC Tv documentary series (filmed between 1996 and 1997, aired 1998) featuring Melbourne Zoo, Werribee and Healesville called Zoos Company? I recently managed to acquire the VHS set of the series from eBay having previously never heard of it. Having now watched it - I admit to being quite surprised at how honest the series and producers were to the point of showing the events that lead to the avoidable death of a Zebra during a transfer and management admitting on camera that the (then) Elephant enclosure was totally unacceptable. Things that would have otherwise been edited out of a lot of (perhaps more modern) zoo series. I was impressed with the series overall and its foresight to include (the bad and ugly) side as above
