I'm going to Algarve this May. Algarve surely isn't the place to go if you want to see zoos (I know that much :p) and that's not my purpose with the holiday, either, but I would still like to see a zoo. As far as I can find out, there are only two zoos in Algarve - Lagos Zoo and Zoomarine. Are they even worth a visit - and possible to reach with public transport (my base will be Tavira)?

    Avoid Zoomarine at all costs.

Yeah, I'm not that especially interested myself in visiting the place after reading about it. But what one reads might not be the same as reality, though. Too me, the worst thing is that it seem way too disneyfied/theme park-esque/whatever to call it. It's hard to judge the conditions of the animals. Are they bad?

Lagos zoo has received 0.0.3 African dwarf crocodile from Fuengirola and 1.0 vicuna from Zlin.
