Just a general thread about zoos in general that could improve and how animal enclosures, visitor facilities transport etc .

CAN I ASK THE MODERATORS PLEASE WILL YOU DELETE ANY REPLIES THAT START TO TURN THIS INTO AN EXCERCISE OF SLAGGING OFF CERTAIN ESTABLISHMENTS. Obviously that doesnt mean they are above critiscm

Just about every zoo in the world could improve in several ways. If you are asking to mention specific zoos and which ways they could improve, that seems to me to be too broad for one thread. Perhaps best posted by country or at least by continent?

If, on the other hand, you mean which ways can zoos in general improve (without listing each zoo by name) that might be a good topic for a general post like this.

This may come as surprising but I think Paignton Zoo is due a change. Some of their enclosures (Elephant, Big Cats, Takin, Camel e.t.c.) seem slightly outdated and not that exciting to the visitors. Paignton should revamp these enclosures to fit a theme and it could hold a lot of potential.

The thread is on the United Kingdom section of Zoochat so we can guess he means in the UK.

I think Africa Alive! could improve by adding hyena, leopard, hippo and more primates. The zoo has a lot of land so has a lot of potential.

A "world class" zoo needs a world class (and comprehensive) mammal collection, so:-

    marsupials
    small mammals
a broader primate collection, including bonobo and GORILLA
    a hippo species
