Banham Zoo in Norfolk has(or did have) a good display of Amazon Parrots.
    See ISIS for exact holdings.

For Amazon parrots try the Loro Parque on Tenerife. They have quite an ok collection on display.

Wuppertal, Dortmund, Krefeld, Duisburg and Berlin Zoo all have excellent collections of South-American animals. Walsrode has an exeptional collection of parrots and other birds.

Dortmund has a special emphasis on South America and probably one of the largest collections of South American animals anywhere in Europe (ISB keeper for giant anteater and giant otter/ESB keeper for South American fur seals), even though the bird collection has shrunk considerably over the past decade.

Really it all depends on what you want to see. For parrots go to Loro Parque, for birds in general I'd say Walsrode. If it's mammals you're looking for then many major zoos have quite a few south-american mammals.

Perhaps Dortmund deserves a special mention as it's their speciality, but as said they're bird collection isn't that large anymore...

Give ZootierlisteHomepage a spin if you're searching for something special...

(Banham Zoo now holds no Amazon Parrot species, just to let you know.)

I know you're asking about mainland Europe, but if you do venture to the UK, Amazona Zoo in Norfolk is dedicated to South American animals. Although rather small, it has some lovely species there.
