You'd think they'd let you apply and then draw randomly from those, though - presumably lots of people with no possibility to attend would be drawn if they just drew randomly from everyone - and lots of people who would and could have gone have never even had the chance. It would obviously be a bit more work but if fairness was the goal that would have been the way.
That's the email I remember receiving. I am surprised it didn't go to all members and fellows! Places would just have been allocated first come first served surely
Fair enough, I can't find the email, but suspect it wasn't specifically about the aquarium previews! As I'm sure you know, I am regularly critical of ZSL, but I am still surprised this wasn't offered ro all members / fellows, it appears that you are the only one to state that you didn't receive it so far!! I receive some emails to my work email (probably from being on member list) and fellows newsletter to my personal one.
The e-mail I received was specifically about the Fellows' Aquarium Preview. The subject of the e-mail was "Preview the new ZSL Whipsnade Zoo Aquarium" and the first line of the contents read "Exclusive Aquarium Fellow preview". The e-mail specifically warned that places were limited. I cannot explain why "Pacu" never received his invitation but my understanding was that all Fellows were invited and, because places were limited, tickets were issued on a first come first served basis.
I thought it was in the paddock behind the waterfowl exhibit. It was when I visited late last summer.
Do you mean the paddock that had Hog Deer and Emu? Possibly although I think the work in the paddock was for drainage systems
