The Zoochat Photographic Guide to Bats

That's not a Cheiromeles unfortunately. If you have a look on Google Images there are, for some reason, lots of taxidermy bats on sale labeled as "Hairless Bats" - most look to actually be horseshoe bats. The one in your photo is probably one of the nectar bats (Eonycteris), but with a dried-out specimen it is difficult to tell. It is definitely not a Naked Bat though - for one thing it is covered in fur.

There are now 167 bat species represented in this thread (albeit a handful of them only as taxidermy specimens), out of c.1300 species total.

 

That was a good set of additions. All five species were new for the thread, and three were new genera as well (Macronycteris, Triaenops, Coleura). Of the other two genera, Miniopterus had only one species in the thread previously, and Nycteris only had two species represented.

These were also your first photos used in this thread.

 

I was in Vanuatu a couple of months ago and while there I had hoped to get a photo of the endemic Vanuatu Flying Fox Pteropus anetianus. I didn't manage to succeed in this, or so I thought - today while checking through my photos again I found one which had an individual of this species in a roost of Pacific Flying Foxes P. tonganus, which I managed to clean up enough to post.

The photo isn't going to win any prizes, but it is the 173rd bat species depicted in this thread (and the 22nd species of Pteropus, which means about a third of the species from this genus are depicted in the Zoochat galleries):

Recently @Najade has uploaded a whole lot of bat photos from the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. I have added all the relevant ones into the thread, totaling 29 new species and ten new genera.

That brings the total of bat species depicted to 202 (out of about 1300), and the number of genera to 100 (representing almost half of the 217 genera I have used in the thread, which is a quite surprising result). Obviously the number of species and genera (and families) is pretty fluid depending of which taxonomic sources you might follow.
