One thing I would be curious if any of the collectors in this group have old Toronto Zoo maps? I mainly am interested in pre-2000s (as my collection had some huge time skips, from 1977 to 1983 to 1994) The attached images are copyright to the Toronto Zoo (and if posting this is a no no tag me I will delete)
First off welcome @kav2001c. Glad to have another member join our ranks. I am not a collector... I used to keep the maps when I was a kid but when we moved just before I started university I purged my stuff and maps and the old members magazines all went to the trash. Man that is a decision adult me deeply regrets. Those maps are awesome! It is so cool to see a look back at what I cant really remember clearly. I know there are gonna be several others who will love to see the maps too! Only suggestion I have is to check out the media section for the zoo and go back to the early days. Someone my have posted photos of older maps way back then. I recently ploughed through the media from the time I joined in 2012 looking for my old photos (may not have realized there was an easier way to achieve that until after I did that). So I would suggest looking at the media pre 2012 because I know theres no maps post 2012. For instance I found this one... 1995 Toronto Zoo Map - ZooChat and this 1972 Planning Map for the Toronto Zoo - ZooChat, and this Toronto Zoo Original Map - ZooChat.
I think I have one other in my collection, not a huge variation from above. And then of course I have a copy of the current for comparison.
Panda Trail is on that map Tundra Trek is open Penguins added Polar Bear cub But telltale is baby Indian Rhino I guess 2018
@kav2001c, sorry you are wrong about Jefferson's first map. It's 2016. Indian rhino Nandu was born in 2016, as was zebra foal Rey, lynx cubs Emmatrude and Emery, polar bear Juno is 2015 but debuts in 2016, and same with panda twins Jia Panpan and Jia Yueyue.
Well if you were going off Nandu or Kiran or lynx Hamilton then sure that makes sense but the pandas leave in March 2018 so it couldnt possibly be that year. Plus Juno was our last polar bear cub and zebra Obi isn't born until 2019. Actually the nice thing about that map is there are so many clues as to what year it is. If there hadn't been so many baby photos there I'd have had no clue what of the 5 panda years to guess.
